IMS designed this specific model to retain the motorcycle's slim ergonomic profile by carrying the extra gallon of fuel lower on the chassis rather than bowing out at the knees. Fuel Pump:You must transfer your OEM fuel pump assembly from the stock titanium tank to the new IMS tank.
Natural vs. Black: When selecting a color, we highly recommend the "Natural" (translucent white) option for serious adventure riders. While the black tank looks identical to the factory setup and keeps the bike looking stealthy, the natural tank allows you to visually check your exact fuel level at a glance. When you are deep in the woods and the low fuel light triggers, physically seeing how much gas is sloshing in the bottom of the tank is far more reassuring than guessing.
Fuel Pump Transfer: When transferring the fuel pump from your stock titanium tank to the IMS tank, take extreme care with the rubber O-ring seal. Clean it thoroughly, inspect it for any pinches or dry rot, and apply a very light coat of silicone grease before bolting the pump into the IMS tank. Tighten the mounting bolts in a strict star pattern to ensure the seal seats evenly and prevents fuel leaks.
Shroud Bolts: Use the bolt and washer combination supplied by IMS for mounting the radiator shrouds.
