Motion Pro Bead Buddy II, Making Tire Changes That Much Easier

The Motion Pro Bead Buddy II (08-0471) is a tire installation tool designed to simplify changing tires on spoked motorcycle wheels. When levering the final section of a tire onto a rim, the opposite side of the tire bead must remain pressed down into the deepest part of the wheel, known as the "drop center." If the bead creeps up onto the wheel lip, installing the tire becomes incredibly difficult and dramatically increases the risk of pinching a tube.

Acting as a mechanical "third hand," the Bead Buddy II hooks securely over a wheel spoke and pushes the tire bead down into the drop center, holding it there while you work your way around the rim with tire spoons. Constructed from lightweight, heavy-duty 6061 billet aluminum, this tool is durable enough for daily shop use while remaining compact enough to carry in a trailside tool roll or fender bag.

Fitment Notes:

• Wheel Compatibility: This tool relies on a spoke to anchor itself into position. It is not compatible with solid cast or mag wheels.

• The Drop Center: The number one mistake riders make when changing a tire is fighting the bead geometry. A motorcycle rim is not flat; the center channel is significantly deeper than the outer edges. To get the final section of a stiff tire lip over the rim, the opposite side of the tire must be pushed down into this deep center channel to give you the necessary slack. The Bead Buddy II ensures the bead stays in that channel, saving you time, energy, and scraped knuckles.

   

• Stiff ADV Tires: If you ride a heavy adventure bike equipped with stiff 50/50 tires (like a Motoz Tractionator or Dunlop Trailmax Mission), a Bead Buddy is almost mandatory for trailside repairs. The thick carcasses on these tires will constantly fight to push themselves out of the drop center. Securing the Bead Buddy first allows you to focus all your leverage on the tire spoons.
