NGK MR7BI-8 Spark Plug – 90982

The NGK MR7BI-8 (Stock No. 90982) Laser Iridium Spark Plug is an OEM-specified replacement engineered to deliver optimal ignition performance for modern high-efficiency engines. Used in some newer Beta Motorcycles and highly utilized in a number of BRP Rotax applications—including, Can-Am Spyders and Ski-Doo snowmobiles.

Built with a precision-welded, fine-wire Iridium center electrode, the MR7BI-8 requires significantly less voltage to generate a spark compared to standard nickel plugs. This results in quicker cold starts, a smoother idle, and excellent anti-fouling characteristics. The plug utilizes a pure alumina silicate ceramic insulator to quickly dissipate heat, while NGK’s signature trivalent metal plating offers unmatched resistance against corrosion and thread seizing in aluminum cylinder heads.

Fitment Notes:

• The Anti-Seize Warning: One of the most common mistakes riders make when installing new NGK spark plugs is applying a dab of copper or silver anti-seize paste to the threads. Because this plug features NGK's Trivalent Metal Plating, it already has a built-in anti-seize property. Adding liquid anti-seize acts as a lubricant, which alters the torque values. If you torque the plug to factory specs with wet threads, you will actually over-tighten the plug by up to 20%, risking stripped threads in your expensive aluminum cylinder head. Always install this plug dry.

• Mind the Gap: While the MR7BI-8 comes pre-gapped from the NGK factory at 0.8mm (0.031"), the gap can occasionally close if the box was dropped heavily during shipping. Carefully verify the gap with a wire-style feeler gauge before installation. Never use a standard coin-style gapping tool on an Iridium plug, as prying against the ultra-thin center electrode will likely snap the brittle Iridium tip.
