The RM3 steering damper prevents sudden handlebar deflection (tank slappers) caused by rocks, roots, or deep sand, utilizing an active return-to-center dampening circuit. Paired with the APEX mounts, which utilize tuned polyurethane cones to isolate the handlebars from the triple clamp, the Pro Kit absorbs harsh engine vibrations and square-edged trail impacts. The entire assembly is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade billet aluminum, delivering robust structural integrity without adding unnecessary top-heavy weight to your motorcycle.

Fitment Notes:

• Handlebar Requirement: The APEX mounts in this kit are designed exclusively for 1-1/8" (28.6mm) handlebars. If your Tenere 700 is currently running standard 7/8" bars, you must upgrade your handlebars simultaneously.
• Dialing in the Damper: The RM3 damper features a large main adjustment dial that controls the overall resistance level. Start with the damper set to a low resistance (dial turned counter-clockwise) for low-speed technical riding or pavement. As your speeds increase in deep sand, gravel, or washboard sections, incrementally increase the resistance. Do not over-dampen the steering for slow, tight singletrack, as it will make the motorcycle feel unnecessarily heavy to turn.
  

• Understanding APEX Flex: Upon initial installation, you may notice that you can manually flex the handlebars slightly forward and backward. This is completely normal. The APEX system relies on this tuned movement within the polyurethane cones to absorb kinetic energy before it reaches your hands. Once you are riding, this flex is imperceptible as a movement, but highly noticeable in the reduction of arm pump and hand numbness.
