Motul Air Filter Oil

Motorex MC CARE A3 Air Filter Oil (108588) is a high-adhesion liquid lubricant engineered specifically for reusable open-cell foam air filters on motocross, enduro, dual-sport, and adventure motorcycles, as well as ATVs and UTVs. Unfiltered micron-scale dust, silica sand, and silt act as an abrasive lapping compound inside the combustion chamber, rapidly accelerating cylinder wall wear, eroding intake valve faces, and compromising piston ring seal. Conversely, standard motor oils or improper lubricants drain to the bottom of the airbox under gravity, leaving the upper foam structure dry while choking intake tract airflow.

Formulated with a specialized solvent carrier and high-tack polymer resins, Motul A3 deeply penetrates the internal foam matrix before the carrier flashes off.It leaves a uniform, tacky protective web across every pore that captures airborne contaminants without restricting laminar airflow or altering fuel-air mixture ratios. The formulation is dyed blue to provide immediate visual confirmation of complete, even saturation with no dry spots, while its hydrophobic properties prevent ambient moisture and water splashes from entering the intake tract during stream crossings and wet conditions.

Application & Filter Compatibility:

• Compatible Filter Types: Recommended exclusively for open-cell polyurethane foam air filters (OEM, Twin Air, Uni Filter, FunnelWeb, DT-1).

• Incompatible Filter Types: DoNOT use on pleated paper filters or oiled cotton-gauze air filters (such as K&N or BMC), which require specialized low-viscosity spray oils to prevent clogging the woven fabric weave.

• Squeeze, Never Wring: After working the oil through the foam, squeeze the filter firmly with gloved hands to expel excess fluid. Never twist or wring the foam filter like a towel; wringing tears the delicate cellular walls and pulls glued structural seams apart, allowing unfiltered air to bypass the filter element entirely.

• Mandatory Solvent Flash-Off Interval: Motul A3 uses a fast-evaporating solvent carrier to keep the oil thin enough to penetrate deep into the foam core. Once worked through,allow the filter to rest on a clean workbench for at least 15 to 20 minutes before installing it onto the air filter cage or running the bike. Installing the filter immediately traps solvent vapors in the intake tract, which causes hard starting, erratic idle, and rich bogging as the engine inhales concentrated hydrocarbons instead of clean air.
