Motorex DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid is a premium, fully synthetic brake and clutch fluid engineered for the most extreme performance environments, including heavy adventure touring, track use, and modern ABS-equipped motorcycles. Compared to standard DOT 4, DOT 5.1 delivers significantly higher dry and wet boiling points, providing unparalleled resistance to vapor lock and brake fade during prolonged, heavy braking.

Crucially, DOT 5.1 features a lower viscosity than DOT 4. This thinner profile allows the micro-valves in modern Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) and traction control systems to cycle much faster, delivering precise and reliable safety interventions even in freezing temperatures. The formula includes advanced conditioning additives to protect EPDM and SBR rubber seals, alongside anti-corrosion agents to defend internal metal components.

Fitment Notes

• Universal Application: Compatible with all motorcycle, dirt bike, ATV, and UTV hydraulic brake and hydraulic clutch systems specifying DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1 fluid.

• WARNING - DO NOT MIX WITH DOT 5: DOT 5.1 is a glycol-based fluid. It is NOT compatible with DOT 5 (which is silicone-based) or Mineral Oil systems.

• DOT 5.1 vs. DOT 5: The naming convention is often confusing. DOT 5.1 is a glycol-based fluid (just like DOT 3 and DOT 4), making it completely safe to use in systems that originally called for DOT 4. DOT 5, however, is a silicone-based fluid used primarily in older Harley-Davidsons. You cannot mix glycol and silicone fluids; doing so will cause the fluids to gel and destroy the braking system. Always ensure you are using DOT 5.1 as an upgrade for DOT 4.

   

• Protect Your Paint: Like all glycol-based brake fluids, DOT 5.1 is highly corrosive to painted surfaces, clear coats, and some plastics. Always drape a thick protective towel over your gas tank, dash, and fairings before opening your master cylinder reservoir. If a spill occurs, do not wipe it—immediately flush the area with water or brake cleaner to neutralize the fluid.
