Motion Pro - Pedal Anchor kit

Motion Pro Pedal Anchor Kit - "Brake Snake"

The rear brake pedal on a dirt bike or adventure motorcycle is inherently vulnerable. Protruding from the side of the engine, it is a prime target for deep ruts, hidden rocks, and thick brush. A hard impact can easily bend the pedal outward or snap it off completely—either of which can instantly end a race or leave you stranded miles deep in the backcountry. The Motion Pro Pedal Anchor Kit, commonly known in the off-road community as a "brake snake," is one of the most cost-effective pieces of preventative insurance you can install on your motorcycle.

This simple yet highly effective tether system connects the tip of your brake pedal to your motorcycle's frame or engine case. In the event of a crash or a rock strike, the heavy-duty braided stainless steel cable takes the load, preventing the pedal from hyperextending outward. Additionally, it acts as a physical barrier, preventing thick weeds, vines, and trail debris from wedging between the pedal and the clutch cover, which can cause the rear brakes to drag and overheat.

Features:

  • Prevents Pedal Damage: Stops the brake pedal from bending outward or snapping off during crashes, rock strikes, and deep rut snags.

  • Debris Deflection: Keeps brush, branches, and heavy mud from packing tightly behind the brake pedal and interfering with brake actuation.

  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Built from ultra-strong galvanized steel cable that withstands extreme tension without snapping.

  • Protective Polyurethane Sheath: The cable is wrapped in a thick, clear protective casing to prevent the steel wire from rubbing against and wearing through your engine case or frame paint.

  • Universal Fitment: Designed to work on virtually any off-road, dual-sport, or adventure motorcycle. Includes premium aluminum crimps for a secure, custom-length installation.

Fitment Notes:

  • The most common mistake riders make when installing a brake snake is pulling the cable too tight. If the cable has zero slack, it will restrict the downward travel of the brake pedal, severely limiting your braking power. Conversely, if it is too loose, the pedal will bend before the cable catches it.
  • Mounting Points: Loop one end around the lower frame rail or a sturdy engine mount. Attach the other end to the tip of the brake pedal.
  • Drilling the Pedal: Many aftermarket brake pedals come with a pre-drilled hole for a brake snake. If your OEM pedal does not have one, you will need to drill a small hole (just large enough to pass the bare wire through) near the toothed tip of the pedal.
  • Setting the Slack: Push your brake pedal down as hard as you would during a panic braking situation. Set the cable length so it is just coming taut at the absolute bottom of the pedal's stroke.
  • Crimping: Slide the aluminum crimps into place. Use a dedicated wire crimping tool or a heavy pair of vice grips to crush the aluminum sleeves securely. Trim any excess bare wire to prevent it from snagging your boots.
