The Motion Pro Chain Breaker, Press, and Riveting Tool (08-0467) is a compact, heavy-duty workhorse designed to handle full chain replacements either in the garage or miles down the trail. Because drive chains are wear items that occasionally fail far from a dealership, this specific tool was engineered with a removable handle. This allows the hardened steel body and its associated components to pack down incredibly small, making it an ideal addition to an adventure motorcycle's tool roll.

Capable of servicing most 520, 525, and 530 standard, O-ring, and X-ring chains, this highly versatile tool performs all three necessary operations: it pushes out the old chain pins, perfectly presses on the new side plates, and securely flares hollow-nose master link rivets. Built to survive years of use, it features a rugged, heat-treated steel body and push bolts designed to withstand the immense pressures required for chain service without flexing or binding.

Application Notes:

• Chain Pitch: Fits 520, 525, and 530 pitch chains.

• Rivet Type: Designed exclusively to rivet hollow-nose (quad-stake) master links. It will not rivet solid-pin master links.

• Consumable Pins: The extractor pin used to push out the factory chain rivets is considered a consumable wear part. It is engineered to snap before the main tool body sustains damage if misaligned. Replacement pins are available separately.

• The Extractor Pin Rule: The most common mistake riders make is attempting to push out a factory-pressed chain pin without grinding the flared head off first. While this tool is incredibly strong, attempting to break a heavy-duty 525 or 530 sealed chain without grinding the rivet will almost certainly snap the tool's 3.8mm extractor pin. Always use an angle grinder or a Dremel tool to grind the rivet head completely flush with the side plate before setting up the chain breaker.

• Measure Twice, Press Once: When using the press plates to install your new master link, it is exceptionally easy to overtighten the tool. If you press the plate too far, you will crush the X-rings, squeeze all the factory grease out, and create a permanent "stiff link" that will quickly wear out your sprockets. Before you start pressing, use a set of digital calipers to measure the exact width of an adjacent, factory-pressed link. Press your new master link down in tiny increments until it perfectly matches that measurement.
