Moose Racing - Skid Plate - 2016–2026 Beta X-Trainer

Moose Racing Skid Plate for the Beta X-Trainer

The Moose Racing Xtreme Skid Plate (0506-2306) is an 8 mm thick High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bash plate engineered specifically for the Beta 250 and 300 Xtrainer. Because the Xtrainer features a lower seat height and reduced ground clearance compared to full-size enduro machines, its frame rails, engine cases, and low-hanging rear suspension linkage are particularly susceptible to severe impacts on technical singletrack, rock gardens, and log crossings.

Unlike stamped aluminum skid plates that transfer impact shock directly to frame welds, resonate engine noise, and deform permanently against engine cases, AXP's 8 mm HDPE construction absorbs heavy impacts through elastic deformation and returns to its original shape. The low-friction polymer surface glides smoothly across obstacles rather than biting or hanging up on jagged rock edges. The plate provides comprehensive protection for the lower frame rails, water pump, ignition cover, and clutch cover, and features an integrated rear extension flap that shields the rear suspension linkage clevis from rock strikes.

Features:

  • 8 mm High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE): CNC-machined 8 mm thick polymer provides impact resistance and structural memory without cracking.

  • Integrated Shock Linkage Guard: Extends rearward beneath the swingarm pivot to shield the low-hanging rear shock linkage clevis and bearings.

  • Low-Friction Obstacle Glide: Smooth polymer surface slides over logs, boulders, and concrete ledges without gouging or hanging up like raw aluminum.

  • Zero Acoustic Resonance: Absorbs internal mechanical engine clatter and stone spray without amplifying engine vibration or noise into the cockpit.

  • Elastic Impact Absorption: Deforms under point-load rock impacts to dissipate energy, returning to its molded profile without pinching engine cases.

  • Full Case & Frame Coverage: Wraps around the water pump housing, lower ignition cover, and clutch case up to the footpeg brackets.

  • Lightweight Construction: 30% to 40% lighter than comparable heavy-duty aluminum bash plates with separate linkage guards.

What's in the Box:

  • 1x Moose Racing 8 mm HDPE Xtrem Skid Plate with Integrated Linkage Guard

  • 1x Front Anodized Aluminum Mounting Bracket Assembly

  • 1x Rear Frame Clamping Hardware Kit

  • 1x Complete Metric Fastener Pack (Countersunk Bolts, Washers & Locking Hardware)

  • 1x Installation Schematic & Mounting Guide

Fitment:

  • 2016–2026 – Beta 250 Xtrainer

  • 2016–2026 – Beta 300 Xtrainer

  • 2024–2026 – Beta 300 Xtrainer LowBoy

Fitment Notes:

  • Frame Distinction Warning: FitsXtrainer models exclusively. DoesNOT fit Beta RR (250/300) or RR Racing models. The Xtrainer uses a specialized, compact chromoly perimeter frame geometry with distinct cross-brace spacing; Beta RR models require separate Moose part numbers.

  • Exhaust Clearance: Designed for clearance around OEM Beta and FMF Gnarly expansion chambers. If utilizing an aftermarket pipe that drops lower than factory routing, inspect clearance to ensure a minimum of 10 mm spacing between the pipe and the HDPE front scoop.

  • Warm-Form Installation Technique: Because 8 mm HDPE is rigid, mounting the plate fresh out of the shipping box can sometimes require significant muscle to align the rear bracket holes with the chassis. To make initial installation seamless, leave the skid plate in direct sunlight for 30 minutes, or gently warm the curved bends with a heat gun on low. The polymer will soften slightly, allowing you to position the front bracket first and compress the rear upward against the frame rails using a floor jack or ratchet strap before threading the rear bolts. Once cooled, the HDPE retains the contoured shape of your frame.

  • Linkage Sweep Verification: After torquing all mounting fasteners, verify clearance at the rear linkage flap. Place the motorcycle on a center stand so the rear wheel hangs at full droop, then compress the rear suspension through its stroke (or strap the swingarm upward) to verify that the integrated guard does not contact the linkage dog bones or swingarm casting. The flexible flap is engineered to slide beneath the lower shock clevis without binding the suspension action.

  • Mud Evacuation & Wash Maintenance: During wet, muddy rides, silt can pack between the engine cases and the HDPE plate. Leaving packed mud in place adds unneeded chassis weight and traps heat against the lower engine cases. Spray a liberal wet coat of Maxima SC1 on the inside surface of the plate prior to installation to create a non-stick barrier. After washing, blow out trapped silt from the drain ports using a garden hose or compressed air.
