The Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ is an aggressive, 80/20 off-road-biased adventure tire engineered for riders who prioritize extreme dirt traction without completely sacrificing paved road capability. Designed to handle the massive weight and horsepower of modern multi-cylinder adventure bikes, the XT+ is the direct successor to the highly regarded E-09 and E-12 Rally Star tread patterns. It features massive, deep-biting tread blocks that provide exceptional drive and braking grip in deep mud, loose sand, and rocky terrain.
The longitudinal scoop-like rear blocks maximize forward thrust, while the optimized front block layout ensures precise steering feedback and bite on loose, unpredictable surfaces. This standard version utilizes a pliable compound and carcass for excellent compliance, wet grip, and easier trailside tire changes.
80/20 Tread Profile: Aggressive block layout designed specifically to deliver 80% off-road and 20% on-road performance, excelling in loose, muddy, and rocky conditions.
Deep Self-Cleaning Grooves: Wide spacing between the tread blocks ensures rapid evacuation of mud and water to maintain a clean, biting contact patch.
Standard Compound: Features a more pliable rubber matrix and carcass than the Dakar version, offering improved wet pavement grip and a much easier installation process.
Highway Capable: While heavily off-road focused, the tread block geometry and compound are engineered to safely handle highway transit speeds between trailheads.
When comparing this to the DAKAR version, the standard XT+ compound is often the better choice for riders who are not crossing continents fully loaded. The more forgiving carcass conforms to trail obstacles for better slow-speed mechanical grip, provides noticeably better traction on wet pavement, and is vastly easier to dismount with standard hand tools if you get a flat deep in the woods.

I’m loving this tire. I put the front on my T7. I decided to change up my front tire from a Motoz dualventure to the Mitas. The reason I went with the mitas up front, is it’s a bit of a softer compound compared to the Motoz. This softer compound gives me a more stable “planted” feeling especially at higher speeds off road. I ride my T7 on just about everything. I rip pavement to get to the trails, ride single track, atv, and 2 track and this tire has been confidence inspiring on all terrain. Recent trip to Utah/Arizona and it offers great handling in sand dunes/washes and fantastic grip on slick rock as well. While you’re not going to get the same performance as a strictly off road tire, this tire feels like a great balance of off-road performance and on road safety for the bikes that get ridden to the trails, or people munching adv miles. In theory a softer compound equals faster wear but I have had this tire a few months and it still looks brand new(granted it’s a front tire). Even if this tire doesn’t last as long as my previous and harder Motoz, the trade in performance is well worth it.
