Constructed from high-strength Ultramid polymer, the Kaster is virtually indestructible and impervious to water, mud, and extreme temperatures. The design is highly functional: the wide head acts as a spool to wrap your fishing line around, while the main body features a hollow storage compartment securely sealed by a pull-off cap. This internal cavity allows you to store a small survival supply of hooks, split-shot sinkers, swivels, and compact lures completely rattle-free inside the handle itself.

Application Notes:

• Casting Technique: Operates as a traditional hand-line system. You manually swing and release the weighted tackle, allowing the line to unspool freely from the head of the tool.

• Line Capacity: Capable of holding approximately 100 yards of 8 lb test line or 90 yards of 10 lb test line or equivalent braided line.

• Packability Advantage: Carrying a fishing rod on a dirt bike or adventure motorcycle can be frustrating. Even multi-piece "pack rods" are often not ideal for a standard pannier, forcing you to strap them precariously to the outside of your luggage where they are exposed to imapcts and damage. The KA-BAR Kaster solves this by reducing your entire fishing setup down to a 6-inch, crush-proof cylinder. It easily tucks into a tank bag or fender pack alongside your tire irons.

• Building Your Kit: Because the Kaster is sold bare, you will need to build out the internal kit. We recommend spooling it with a high-visibility braided line (which has zero memory and won't coil up like monofilament). Inside the handle, pack a few small circle hooks, a couple of split-shot sinkers, and a small, versatile lure like a Panther Martin spinner or a lightweight spoon. Pack a small piece of foam inside the cap to stick your hooks into—this prevents them from rattling around or dulling against the plastic interior while riding off-road.
