Standard spin-on motorcycle oil filters can be an absolute nightmare to remove, especially when they are tucked behind hot exhaust headers or were over-tightened during the last service. The Hiflofiltro HF204RC Racing Oil Filter eliminates the need for frustrating strap wrenches and slip-joint pliers by featuring a heavy-duty, welded 17mm hex nut directly on the end of the canister.
Originally developed for professional racing, the "RC" designation means this filter is built to handle extreme conditions. The 17mm nut is cross-drilled, allowing you to easily route safety wire to prevent the filter from backing out—a mandatory requirement for most track days and racing organizations. Internally, the filter utilizes an advanced high-performance tri-fiber filtration media. This synthetic blend optimizes oil flow and maintains consistent oil pressure under high RPMs while trapping microscopic metal shavings and clutch material far more effectively than standard OEM paper filters.
17mm Hex Nut: A heavy-duty 17mm nut welded to the dome allows for effortless removal using a standard wrench or socket.
Track Ready: The hex nut is pre-drilled for safety wire, making it instantly ready for track days, professional racing, or extreme adventure riding.
Tri-Fiber Media: Advanced synthetic/cellulose blended media provides higher capacity, maximum oil flow, and superior particle filtration compared to factory filters.
Heavy-Duty Canister: Constructed from a thicker steel wall to withstand high oil pressures and resist puncture from flying track or trail debris.
Universal Fluid Compatibility: 100% safe and effective for use with all conventional, semi-synthetic, and full synthetic motorcycle engine oils.
TÜV Approved: Manufactured to extreme quality control standards and TÜV approved to meet or exceed OEM specifications.
The 17mm hex nut on the end of this filter is designed strictly for removal only. Never use a wrench or ratchet on that nut to tighten the filter during installation. Using mechanical leverage to install the filter will crush the internal rubber O-ring, leading to a catastrophic oil leak. Always apply a thin film of fresh engine oil to the rubber gasket and tighten the filter by hand (usually 3/4 to 1 full turn after the gasket makes contact with the engine block).
