FMF 2 Stroke Exhaust Wash Plug

The FMF 2-Stroke Exhaust Wash Plug (012875) is a simple but essential maintenance tool designed to keep water, mud, and harsh detergents out of your motorcycle's exhaust system during washing or transport. Two-stroke silencers utilize a central perforated core wrapped in a fiberglass packing material to tune the engine's backpressure and dampen sound. If water enters the exhaust tip from a pressure washer or a garden hose, this packing material acts like a sponge, becoming completely waterlogged and ruined.

Manufactured from a durable, pliable rubber compound, this plug features a tapered ribbed design to ensure a tight, leak-proof seal across a wide variety of 2-stroke silencer tip diameters. To prevent the common mistake of attempting to start the motorcycle while the exhaust is still blocked, FMF includes a brightly colored, high-visibility streamer attached directly to the end of the plug.

Fitment Notes:

• Universal 2-Stroke: Designed specifically for the smaller stinger diameters of 2-stroke exhaust silencers (50cc up to 300cc+).

• Not for 4-Strokes: This plug is too small to properly seal the larger exhaust outlets found on modern 4-stroke motorcycles. (For 4-strokes, you will need the larger 4-stroke specific wash plug).

• The Saturated Packing Problem: Skipping a wash plug is the fastest way to ruin a 2-stroke silencer. When fiberglass packing gets soaked, it clumps together and loses its sound-dampening properties. Once you start the bike, the exhaust pressure will often blow the wet, heavy packing right out of the silencer core. This leaves your bike running excessively loud, running poorly due to altered backpressure, and eventually leads to a messy black oil drip down the side of your swingarm as unburnt premix bypasses the core.

• Projectile Warning: Always heed the warning streamer. If you forget to pull the plug and manage to kick the bike over with a strong spark, the engine compression will fire that rubber plug out of the exhaust tip, potentially damaging whatever is parked directly behind your motorcycle in the garage.
