Off-road-centric riders often view it as a 30/70 tire due to its smooth street manners, while touring-focused riders appreciate the aggressive tread and lean toward the 40/60 designation. Regardless of how you classify it, the tread pattern incorporates staggered step blocks for increased bite in loose dirt and gravel, while the deep, intersecting lateral grooves excel at evacuating water on wet pavement. Notably, the front and rear tires utilize distinctly different tread patterns: the front focuses on steering precision and braking stability, while the rear maximizes forward drive and overall mileage. • Tubeless Compatibility: Most sizes are designated as Tubeless (TL), but they can be safely run with heavy-duty tubes on tube-type spoked rims.

• Tire Pressures: The notoriously stiff sidewall of the Trailmax Mission allows you to air down significantly for off-road traction without immediately risking a pinch flat. However, it is critical to air back up for extended highway transit. Running low pressure at highway speeds causes excessive heat buildup in the heavy carcass, leading to premature wear or potential tire failure.

• Mounting Note: The heavy-duty carcass that makes the Mission so incredibly durable also makes it notoriously stiff to mount by hand. If you are changing this tire in the backcountry with spoons, use plenty of bead lube and ensure the opposite bead is pushed completely down into the deepest part of the rim's drop center before attempting to pry the final lip over.
