The Brembo Sintered SD (Sintered Dirt) Brake Pads are engineered specifically for off-road, enduro, and adventure touring motorcycles. Formulated from a premium sintered metallic compound, these pads deliver stable and efficient braking power across diverse and inhospitable environments. They are highly resistant to abrasive wear and provide consistent performance even when exposed to heavy mud, water, sand, and low operating temperatures.
Compared to highly aggressive race-focused compounds, the SD pad is designed with a smoother initial bite. This characteristic allows for precise brake modulation and flexible control in low-traction off-road situations, reducing the likelihood of accidental wheel lockup. These pads serve as a direct OEM upgrade for riders seeking predictable stopping power and extended durability in rugged conditions.
Off-Road Optimized: Formulated specifically to handle the harsh conditions of enduro and adventure riding, including deep mud, water, and sand.
Sintered Metallic Compound: Ensures a stable coefficient of friction across varying temperature ranges and inclement weather conditions.
Predictable Modulation: Provides a smooth, controlled initial bite to prevent unexpected wheel lockup on loose or slippery terrain.
Extended Durability: Highly resistant to abrasive wear, offering a significantly longer service life than standard organic or carbon-ceramic pads.
Direct OEM Fit: Precision-manufactured backing plates guarantee a perfect, rattle-free fit inside factory brake calipers.
Rotor Preparation: Before installing new sintered brake pads, it is important to prep your brake rotors. Use a dedicated contact/brake cleaner and a scuff pad (like Scotch-Brite) to remove old pad material, road grime, and glazing from the rotor surface. Installing new pads on a glazed rotor can drastically reduce braking performance and cause squealing.
The Bed-In Process: New sintered pads perform best when a bed-in process is followed to properly mate the new pads with the rotor surface. Once installed, we like to perform 8 to 10 moderate, controlled stops from roughly 35 mph down to 5 mph on a paved surface. Do not come to a complete stop while holding the brake lever hard, as this can imprint pad material unevenly onto the hot rotor. Allow the brakes to cool as you ride, and avoid aggressive emergency braking for the first 50 miles.
