A simple fix for a common problem on the Yamaha Tenere 700.
Over time, the plastic threads in the T7’s airbox wear out from repeated air filter service. The factory screws bite directly into the plastic, and after enough removals, they lose grip—making it difficult or impossible to clamp the intake flange and air filter securely.
Our solution is a direct replacement screw with a slightly larger diameter and a coarser thread. These oversize stainless steel screws provide fresh bite in the plastic, restoring clamping pressure and airbox function without needing permanent repairs or inserts.
We use a #12 stainless steel button head sheet metal screw with a T25 Torx drive for better tool engagement and durability.
This isn’t a proprietary screw. You’re welcome to source your own. A phillips head version is also a good option. We're offering it here simply as a convenience—because we’ve been there, and we know this small problem can become a big one fast.
