Maxima Assembly Grease

Maxima Assembly Grease (69-02916) is a specialized calcium sulfonate complex lubricant engineered for high-load engine rebuilding and mechanical chassis assembly. During initial engine startup and mechanical break-in, rotating and reciprocating components operate under boundary friction conditions before oil pressure stabilizes. Standard motor oils can drain away from contact faces during storage, while non-soluble chassis greases or anti-seize compounds can wash into the oil stream as solid contaminants, blocking narrow oil journals and clogging filters.

Formulated with a shear-stable calcium sulfonate complex soap thickener and an extreme-pressure (EP) additive system, this assembly grease provides a tenacious protective film across camshafts, lifters, wrist pins, and bearings.Its oil-soluble chemistry dissolves into mineral and synthetic motor oils during the initial engine warmup cycle without clogging paper or stainless steel oil filter elements.In chassis applications, its high water-washout resistance and shear stability protect splines, bushings, and pivot hardware against galling, fretting, and corrosion.

Application & Component Suitability:

• Engine Valvetrain & Bottom-End: Camshaft lobes, flat-tappet lifters, bucket shims, rocker arm pads, pushrod tips, valve stems, timing gears, wrist pins, and plain crank/rod bearing journals.

• Transmission & Driveline: Gear shafts, shift forks, dog clutches, countershaft splines, wheel axle shafts, and swingarm pivot bolts.

• Chassis & Hardware: Steering stem pre-assembly, linkage pivot sleeves, suspension press-fit bushings, and high-load threaded fasteners.

• Prohibited Areas: DoNOT use on brake friction surfaces, wet clutch friction plates, or inside sealed fork cartridge assemblies.

• Assembly Grease vs. Standard Chassis Waterproof Grease: Standard lithium-complex or aluminum-complex waterproof greases (such as Maxima Waterproof Grease) must never be used inside an engine. Those chassis greases contain thickeners that do not dissolve in motor oil; they circulate through the lubrication system as semi-solid particles, accumulating in the pleats of the oil filter, triggering the oil filter bypass valve, or clogging narrow oil feed passages and crank oil holes.Maxima Assembly Grease utilizes a calcium sulfonate base engineered to fully dissolve into the engine oil once the engine reaches operating temperature, allowing the fluid to be drained cleanly during the initial post-break-in oil change.

• Engine Bearing & Cam Lobe Coating Technique: When coating camshaft lobes and lifter buckets during a top-end rebuild, apply a uniform, thin film rather than heavy clumps. Excessive grease buildup on cam lobes will not damage the valvetrain, but it can push past valve cover breathers into the airbox before full engine warmup. For plain rod and main bearings, apply a smooth, even wipe across the entire bearing shell before setting the crankshaft or torquing rod caps.

• Spline & Pivot Application: On external splines (such as front countershaft sprockets and driveshafts) and swingarm pivot through-bolts, Maxima Assembly Grease prevents fretting corrosion and micro-motion wear caused by chassis torque. Ensure surfaces are thoroughly degreased with contact cleaner and dried before spreading a thin layer across the splines or bolt shanks.
