Michelin Bib Mousse

Originally developed by Michelin for the Dakar Rally, the Bib Mousse features a proprietary butyl honeycomb foam that mimics the feel of a standard tube at approximately 13 PSI (0.9 bar).

The Bib Mousse was invented in the 1980's specifically for the rigors of the Paris-Dakar Rally. The Michelin Bib Mousse is the legendary foam insert that replaces traditional inner tubes, making it physically impossible to get a flat tire. Whether you’re racing a high-speed desert event or navigating jagged rock gardens in the backcountry, the Bib Mousse provides the peace of mind that you will always make it back to the truck.

Recommended Use & Maintenance:

• Speed Rating: Bib Mousses are designed for off-road use only. They are not street legal (NHS) and should not be used for extended highway stretches, as excessive heat buildup will cause the foam to break down prematurely.
• Lubrication is Life: Every Bib Mousse includes a tube of Michelin Mousse Gel. Proper lubrication is critical to minimize friction and heat. Re-lubing your Mousse when installing in a new tire will significantly extend its lifespan.
• Sizing Matters:Fitment is critical. A Mousse must match the internal volume of your specific tire brand and size. Check our fitment chart below to ensure a perfect match.
• Use By: The date of first use of the MICHELIN Bib Mousse should be no later than 18 months from manufacture. The lifespan of MICHELIN Bib Mousse varies considerably depending on the intensity of usage and the discipline practised. For example, the durability will be much shorter for Motocross than for Enduro.
  
• Dosage: To avoid degradation due to excessive heat, distribute the gel inside the tire without putting it on the tire beads or the rim at the rate of ½ tube on the front MICHELIN Bib Mousse and 1 full tube on the rear MICHELIN Bib Mousse.
