The Alpinestars Tech-Air® MX is the next evolution in off-road rider protection—an intelligent, self-contained airbag system built specifically for motocross, enduro, and rally riders. Developed and tested with Alpinestars’ professional athletes across MXGP, AMA Supercross, and enduro racing, the Tech-Air MX provides instant, advanced upper-body protection that activates before you hit the ground.

Powered by integrated accelerometers and gyroscopes, the system detects a crash and inflates the airbag in roughly 40 milliseconds, reducing impact forces on the chest, back, and shoulders. The result is protection that’s over four times more effective than standard passive armor.

Through the Tech-Air App, riders can choose between multiple riding modes—MX, MX Race, Enduro, and Rally—to match their terrain and risk profile.

• MX Mode is ideal for motocross and supercross tracks with jumps, berms, and ruts, providing optimized protection for high-intensity off-road riding.

• MX Race Mode uses a more selective deployment algorithm for competitive race environments, preventing unnecessary activation during minor tip-overs when recharging mid-race isn’t possible.

Designed to be worn over or under your gear, the Tech-Air MX features a lightweight, ventilated chest and back protector that integrates Alpinestars’ Nucleon PLASMA and Polyhedron Cell technology. The system runs on a lithium-ion battery with up to 30 hours of ride time on a full charge and is easily recharged via USB-C. A single gas inflator delivers one deployment and can be replaced quickly by the user (where permitted).

MX Mode

Best for: Motocross and Supercross riding.
Terrain: Outdoor or indoor tracks with dirt, sand, mud, jumps, berms, whoops, and rhythm sections.
How it works:

• Optimized for general MX riding conditions.

• The system is tuned to recognize typical riding movements, jumps, and crashes found in motocross and supercross.

• Provides full protection for most crash types, including medium and high-speed falls.

MX Race Mode

Best for: Competitive racing events.
Purpose: To avoid unnecessary deployments during minor crashes (like tip-overs).
How it works:

• Triggers only during high-severity impacts.

• Designed for races where riders cannot replace the inflator mid-event.

• Prevents wasting a deployment on a minor crash, keeping protection ready for a major accident.
