• Compatibility: The Acerbis locking cap will NOT fit standard factory OEM fuel tanks. Nor will it fit the fuel tanks from IMS, Safari or Clarke. 

• The Dust Factor: Adventure riding involves copious amounts of fine silt and dust, which is the natural enemy of any lock cylinder. To keep your Acerbis locking cap functioning smoothly over years of abuse, never lubricate the keyhole with wet lubricants like WD-40 or grease. Wet lubes attract and hold dust, which will eventually bind the tumblers. Instead, give the keyhole a quick puff of dry graphite powder once or twice a season.

• The Spare Key: Because this cap spins freely when locked, losing your key on a BDR or cross-country trip means you are completely locked out of your fuel supply with no easy way to pry the cap off. Consider keeping one on your motorcycle ignition ring, and zip-tie or hide the spare key somewhere deep inside your luggage, pinned into you riding jacket or zip-tied to your frame out of site.
