Use a dedicated brake or contact cleaner alongside a scuff pad (like Scotch-Brite) to strip away old pad material, road grime, and glazing from the rotor surface. Do not come to a complete stop while holding the brake lever hard, as this can imprint pad material unevenly onto the hot rotor.
